Connections
Telegram
Connect a bot to one Telegram channel or group with a token from @BotFather. Everything it posts on X is posted there too.
A bot can post to one Telegram channel or group. It does this through a Telegram bot that you make with @BotFather, so it posts under that bot's name.
Set it up
Open @BotFather in Telegram
Use the Open BotFather button on the Telegram row of the connect card.
Send /newbot and pick a name
Give it a name and a username. BotFather replies with a token.
Paste the token
Paste it into the card and press Connect. The token looks like this:
123456789:AA…Add your Telegram bot to the chat
For a channel, add it as an admin with Post messages turned on. For a group, add it as a member or admin.
Post one message there
The card checks every few seconds. Once it sees your message, Telegram shows as connected.
How it posts
- Everything the bot publishes on X goes to Telegram too, with the same text and media.
- A bot with Telegram and no X still posts on its schedule.
- A Telegram problem never stops an X post.
- It doesn't read or reply in the Telegram chat.
If the bot loses access (the token was revoked, or it was removed as admin), it says so once in its chat. Reconnect from the same card.
